Hi there, I'm Joan!

Healing begins when we reach out for help, and I commend you for that. I specialize in working with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, loss, grief, anger, and trauma. My approach integrates client-centered therapy with a deep understanding of how change happens.

I work with adults seeking to learn coping skills, address negative self-talk and behaviors, and move toward their goals. The objective is to increase self-awareness and decrease emotional pain as we continue working together.

I value open communication, positive reinforcement, and sharing my impressions in a nonjudgmental manner. I encourage you to give me feedback, disagree, or ask for clarity. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I'll make every effort to be a team player.

My journey to mental healthcare

Early in my training, I worked with children coping with neglect and abuse. With acceptance, empathy, and positive reinforcement, they became more confident and hopeful. I realized that with support and acknowledgment, individuals can find answers within themselves.

My goals for you

Methods that will be the stepping stones on your journey include cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, acceptance/commitment, couples therapy, psychoanalysis, and DBT mindfulness. Together, we will create a treatment plan and work on each objective bite by bite. My PhD studies provide expertise in the East/West Psychology of Change.
