Hi there, I'm Carisa!

I would be delighted to support you in your journey to emotional wellness. I work with adults, children, and teens dealing with mental health issues, life transitions, struggles, or seeking to improve their emotional wellness. My counseling style is warm and interactive, and I treat everyone with kindness, respect, and sensitivity.

My focus

I have a passion for working with youth impacted by mental health issues and justice system involvement. I also work with individuals who have been a victim of domestic violence or significant relationship issues as well as individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives.

My approach

I strive to provide a judgment-free, client-centered approach that is catered to the unique individual. I utilize an eclectic mix of trauma-focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered, and strength-based therapeutic modalities and skills to support your healing and growth.

My communication style

It's very important to me to provide a judgment-free safe space for my clients. I strive to provide people with a level of respect and comfort in which they feel that they can share their stories and treatment goals without shame or embarrassment. I am intentional in using language that is down to earth and real.

My journey to mental healthcare

Helping people with problems and concerns, giving them a voice, and supporting them in their journey to seek solutions to their life struggles is what has kept me in this field. I feel empathy and compassion toward people and tend to connect easily with individuals from all walks of life. I want to be that helping hand when you need it.

You might already have specific goals in mind that you would like to focus on, or you might find your goals during our therapeutic work together. I will work with you to set manageable and realistic goals because it is important for you to see the progress you are making.

Our first session

Our first session will be an opportunity to meet, make a connection, and establish rapport. I want you to feel comfortable getting to know me as I get to know you and begin to understand your motivation to start therapy. We will spend most of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently, and I want to hear your story.
