My communication style

I try to keep my sessions feeling more like a conversation than an appointment. You will often see me with a cup of tea or coffee in my hand, as we look at your challenges and successes. I like to keep the interaction as comfortable and relaxed as possible

My journey to mental healthcare

I was raised in a family with a variety of significant mental health issues, and often found myself trying to keep the peace and make others feel better. I took psychology in high school and fell in love with it, realizing that working with others in a professional setting to help build more comfortable lives is my passion.

My goals for you

My client is the expert in their own life, as well as the author of their own goals. I first ask clients what they want to change, using their own words. If they are struggling, I will give examples of some things that may be beneficial, given their specific situation. The goals are always done together and can always be modified.

Our first session

I will introduce a few things to know about therapy- confidentiality, the need to verify identity, and a quick discussion on making sure you are alone and able to talk. After this, we look at your background, wants, challenges, and strengths to begin to discover the goals of our working together. Feel free to ask questions, or not answer mine.
