Hello, there. I'm Sacheen Thompson, LMFT 132533. Most of us have times when we struggle with challenges that feel overwhelming whether they be relationship problems, depression, anxiety, parenting concerns, or lifestyle changes. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I value listening, empathy, and empowering clients to identify their strengths and overcome such challenges.
My approach
I work with clients from a client-centered approach, utilizing a combination of Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
My focus
I work with adolescents and teens on a broad range of issues such as emotional regulation stemming from anxiety, anger, depression, and stress. I also work with women who are feeling under pressure from family, health, or work. I am here to listen, understand, and guide clients toward the change they would like to see. During our work together, clients will come to make links between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while also discovering new tools and honing their own positive coping strategies.
My communication style
I enter the sessions with a calm tone. I connect with my clients by being an ally and collaborative teacher who uses active listening, empathy, and a non-judgmental mindset to help clients feel safe, supported, and valued.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always been drawn to helping people through difficult times, and I've enjoyed volunteering as a mentor in my community long before becoming licensed. I'm passionate about positively affecting the life of another human being. Helping one person does great for the individual. And, because one person is linked to another person, group, or system, that positive change may also be seen in relationships, families, work, school, and more.
My goals for you
I engage in collaborative goal-setting with my clients to help them imagine desired outcomes and to develop a plan to reach those outcomes.
My first session with you
In the first session, clients can expect a warm greeting, exchange introductions, and begin building an initial connection. Clients will also begin answering a variety of questions such as what brings them to seek professional help, how they are feeling today, and what they hope to achieve.
