I have been an LCSW for four years and in the field of social work for eight years. I have spent much of my time working with clients in a forensic setting but have also worked in outpatient settings with clients who have depression, anxiety, trauma, and more. I currently work with veterans who have a history of homelessness and have been housed by providing necessary case management so they remained housed. I like to work at your pace in order to provide the necessary tools to manage your symptoms or concerns. That can look like learning healthy coping skills and/or habits, processing thoughts and feelings and how they affect one's behaviors, journaling, homework assignments or just simply talking things out. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all as I work from a client-centered perspective.
My approach
My approach in therapy is client-centered and strength-based. I believe in focusing on the client and what works best for the client. I want to make sure my client feels comfortable in a session. My top modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, humanistic, supportive therapy, and trauma-focused care. Some of my specialties include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, general stress, mood disorders, trauma, sexual disorders, family relations, panic attacks, self-esteem, grief, and anger management.
My focus
I am comfortable with working with adults, 18+ and with older adults conducting individual therapy at this time. I enjoy working with clients with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, general stress, mood disorders, trauma, and sexual disorders.
My communication style
My communication style is open and transparent. I speak calmly with a normal tone and sometimes can be assertive. I am an active listener and reflect on what I hear during my sessions.
My goals for you
My goal for therapy is to promote comfort and to normalize your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. I want to be able to walk you through your journey to a happier and healthier life!
My first session with you
My first session starts with introductions, then a review of HIPAA and cancellation/no-show policy. I also like to make sure the client knows this is a time to ask any questions they may have and how I conduct my sessions, is client-centered, which is what makes them comfortable. I go over what's completed during the first session and why. My goal is to make them feel comfortable and understand how therapy works for them.
