Hello, my name is Lupita Pearl Colbert, but I go by my middle name, "Pearl." I am a dual-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) passionate about working with children, adults, and families.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is relational and client-centered, focusing on guiding you to your own solutions. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and an eclectic mix of modalities tailored to your unique needs. Empathy, care, and sometimes humor are at the core of my style.
My focus
I specialize in treating individuals with a wide range of issues, including addiction, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), LGBTQIA+ matters, relationship problems, and many others. In addition to counseling, I run a social skills program for those affected by ASD and provide parent/caregiver training.
My communication style
In our work together, you can expect me to be caring, supportive, and attuned to your needs in each moment. I aim to create a safe space where you feel heard and validated. Through collaboration and guidance, we will identify your best outcomes and carve a path toward the future you envision for yourself.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey in mental healthcare began with a Bachelor's in psychology from California State University Dominguez Hills, followed by a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. While in graduate school, I discovered my passion for behavior modification working with children with ASD. This led me to complete a BCBA certification concurrently, equipping me with a unique skill set to help a diverse range of clients.
My goals for you
My goal is to empower you with the insights, coping strategies, and tools to navigate life's challenges and create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we will work to enhance your self-understanding, strengthen your relationships, and improve your overall well-being. I'm committed to supporting you every step of the way.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and collaborate to identify your specific goals. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and determine if we are a good fit. I will provide a warm, non-judgmental space for you to share your story and start our therapeutic journey together.
