You have already taken your first step towards healing, and to you, I send the warmest welcome. My diverse background in the field includes a BA in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz as well as a master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco. During and following my education, I have gained 7 years of direct comprehensive experience working with at-risk children, young adults, and families. In addition, this work in the community of San Francisco, along with my work with adult clients in Path, has given me extensive experience treating a wide range of mental health diagnoses including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma disorders, and personality disorders in the context of both individual treatment and family systems. I am looking forward to meeting you and witnessing your journey toward healing.
My approach
Through my multi-pronged approach, I will guide you through a treatment path catered to your needs and preferences. Whether you desire to peer into your subconscious and past relationships through psychoanalysis and psychodynamics, wish to tackle immediate change through dialectical and cognitive behavioral therapy, or choose to synthesize all of these modalities into your journey, I am here to meet you where you’re at. You are the expert of your own self, and I am simply a method that you can use to unlock what you already possess within.
My focus
I look forward to working with anyone who is willing to challenge themselves and examine their mental health in both an individual and a systemic context. We live in a chaotic era and our day-to-day existence is impacted by the material as well as the existential. I do not discount the spirit of the times and see the importance of recognizing how these factors affect and potentially exacerbate the mental health struggles present with my clients. Emotional pain and the feeling that we are not in control of our own thoughts can drag us into dark places. I wish to give you the tools to regain that sense of control, heal, and, if you so desire, find purpose and a greater sense of self in a time when every week can bring new challenges. You are already on your way!
My communication style
I take an active listening approach with my clients with an emphasis on matching language and demeanor. I utilize a direct but compassionate communication style that encourages dialogue and collaboration.
My goals for you
When collaborating with my clients I set incremental goals which provide room for insight and behavioral change. I emphasize autonomy and awareness. Progress is measured by a collaboration between me and my clients to examine the effectiveness of coping skills as well as the level of insight gained throughout their treatment journey.
