Hi, my name is Richard Kepple, MS, LMFT. I work with individuals, couples, and families. My theoretical orientation is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I have been practicing for over 17 years and have an office in Fountain Valley, CA. I am equipped to do in-person or telehealth sessions. My background started with my working with incarcerated youth and children in a church setting. My approach is direct with humor and compassion.
My approach
My approach is CBT and Narrative. I work primarily with couples because it is that population that seems to be more in need than any other. My approach is, to begin with, a conversation, and my goal is to understand a person's circumstances deeply and to meet them there.
My focus
I don't believe I have an "ideal" client. My most influential work is with clients who truly desire change and are intentional about working through the process.
My communication style
My tone is relaxed, engaged, and with a measure of humor mixed with compassion to help people live the lives they deserve.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started working with kids in a church ministry in 1987. Then in 1999, I started working with kids in the OC Probation Department. Around 2002 I decided to return to school and get my Master's in Counseling. I graduated in 2005 and have worked with kids, families, adults, and couples since then.
My goals for you
I believe that people should be allowed the opportunity to hear what needs to be discussed based on my life experiences and training. I will be the first to admit that I don't know everything. I see myself as a coach and know that I have myself learned things from my work with my clients.
My first session with you
I like to give a free 15-minute consultation over the phone before our first session to make sure they are comfortable knowing whether or not I can genuinely help them.
