Hi there, I'm David!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with a specialization in working with adolescents and adults, especially those who have been impacted by various forms of traumatic experiences. I draw from research and clinical experiences, along with an understanding of your unique background and strengths.

My focus

The types of clients I typically serve are adolescents who may be having challenges either at home or in their school setting. I have experience working with re-entry populations and adults looking for another opportunity to get back on their feet and who would like to reach their aspirations.

My approach

I consider myself an eclectic therapist, pulling from various treatment modalities that'll best fit you and your needs. Some common theoretical approaches are Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, DBT, and some Psycho-dynamic from time to time.

My communication style

I like to believe that I create an authentic tone and environment for those I work with. You will get someone who actively listens, engages, and has a genuine investment in your personal growth. Those who work with me often say they share things with me that they've never shared with anyone else. It's a space of trust, and a place of accountability

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to become a therapist is a fun one. Many people encouraged me to explore the profession. Initially, I wasn't fully aware. But as time, my education, and professional experiences grew, I knew I was where God wanted me to be. I come from a family of Servant Leaders.

Goal setting with clients is a team approach. I will never try to develop goals for you; instead, I will work with you and empower you to come up with S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Reasonable, and Time-oriented) goals that will work for you and your specific needs and wants.

Our first session

In our first session, clients should review our legal and ethical approach to our work with one another. In addition, expect to express what led you to explore working with a therapist and what you're hoping to gain from the experience while sharing some things about yourself along the way.
