Aloha, I am John Joseph, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Califonia. My commitment to providing quality mental health services to individuals, couples, and families has greatly influenced my approach to therapy. I believe that it is important to understand how past events have shaped our perception of people, relationships, and the world. Through this awareness, we can begin our journey toward change and establish healthy and meaningful relationships.
My approach
I utilize an integrative approach influenced by Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Dialectical Behavioral Theory (DBT), Attachment Theory, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Theory (TF-CBT). These areas of research help us to understand how stress and trauma impact our brains and lives in ways that may go unnoticed.
My focus
Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of working with individuals, couples, and families of various ages. I have helped clients overcome symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.
My communication style
I am compassionate in my belief that emotions and sensations are an important aspect of life that’s worth exploring. Although this journey may be uncomfortable at times, I feel that developing an awareness of emotions and sensations can allow my clients to establish self-compassion and relief. The therapeutic journey can help us feel less alone in the world, and I am on this path with clients to support them in establishing their sense of well-being.
