My communication style

I believe that genuine listening is at the heart of therapy. It should be space to explore and discover their own answers. I encourage clients to communicate their preferences, goals, and expectations throughout the therapeutic process. I often remind clients, “I work for you.” My goal is you feel heard, respected, and comfortable.

My journey to mental healthcare

My path toward becoming a therapist began with volunteering and helping others. I volunteered at a hospital, worked on a crisis hotline, delivered food to homebound clients living with HIV, among other experiences. I discovered how much I loved helping people. Looking back, it feels as though becoming a therapist may have been a calling.

My goals for you

I have found that it can be helpful to make goals specific and meaningful, while also recognizing that change takes time. For many people, having both short- and long-term goals can provide direction and a sense of progress. We can begin with manageable steps that help you feel better before approaching longer-term or more complex goals.

Our first session

I want to get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy. I invite clients to share their concerns, wishes, and goals. I also remind clients that a diagnosis is not who they are. While diagnoses can be helpful for understanding symptoms and guiding treatment, they can change over time and are not meant to define or label a person.
