My name is Dr. Khanideh. I am a licensed psychologist in California. I look forward to us getting to know each other and developing a working relationship that can be helpful to you in reaching your goals.
My approach
In my approach, I draw inspiration from multiple theories and perspectives - psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral techniques, brief therapy models, and relational theories.
My focus
My psychotherapy practice includes individual counseling. Typically working with anxiety, adjustment problems, career issues, cultural issues, depression, sadness and loneliness, and relationship issues.
My communication style
I am dedicated to helping people form healthy, productive, and satisfying lives and relationships.
My journey to mental healthcare
I obtained a B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University. I then moved to Boston where I earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Prior to opening my own private practice, I worked at Family Services of Long Beach. At Family Services, I provided individual psychotherapy for children (age 5+) to older adults both in the clinic and out in the community at local elementary and high schools in the Long Beach area.
My goals for you
We use the first session to decide what is the main reason the individual is seeking therapy and create goals around that. We also rank the goals and work on them from there. From time to time we will visit the goals again and see if we need to revise them or not.
My first session with you
I approach each new client as someone who is a unique individual. I help them recognize factors that impact their current life situation. I tend to use the first session to get to know you better and why you are seeking therapy. This is a great time for us to get to know each other better and set goals for the upcoming sessions together.
