My communication style

I like to create an authentic, safe holding environment; providing acceptance without judgement, seeking to understand, and finding solutions to problems when possible. I incorporate humor, as well as my clients' interests such as music, sports, cars, art, crafts, books, scriptures, etc. It is important to me to meet the client where they are.

My journey to mental healthcare

I love meeting people! I'm a great listener, with genuine care and a desire to help others. I've been drawn to assisting people since the 3rd grade, when I volunteered as a Conflict Management Team member for recess. I've been through things that were traumatic, and I can relate to needing assistance from those who support without judgment.

My goals for you

Goal setting is collaborative (meaning we work together). I ask the client and take the needs that arose during the assessment into consideration. I will revisit goals throughout treatment to insure we remain focused during session. I will assign "homework" such as journaling prompts or application of intervention techniques. Practice is key!

Our first session

Questions! I will ask why you've come, what you expect from treatment, your preferences, and what you already have in place that helps you cope with your problems. My goal is to get to know you in order to understand how to help. I will also establish some boundaries and encourage you to be your true self in order to have the best experience.
