Hi there, I'm Eric!

I believe in treating everyone with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, and spirituality.

My focus

I have experience working with diverse populations, including severely emotionally disturbed children, elderly adults, persons struggling with substance abuse, the homeless, psychotic individuals, and those with mood disorders. Recently, I have worked with clients suffering from depression, anxiety, substance use, and psychosocial stressors.

My approach

Common theoretical approaches that I integrate into my practice are Cognitive Theory, the Humanistic approach, and Erikson's Stages of Development. I have vast experience using cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing in my practice.

My communication style

I create a safe place for clients to feel comfortable voicing their concerns. Clients should expect to feel a warm welcome. Clients will learn that working with me is like a collaborative partnership, where I often ask for your feedback on what is working or not working for you.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have a caring nature, which makes the therapist profession natural for me. In my early career, most of my work was volunteerism in the community or church. I enjoyed going to the homeless shelters to serve food to the homeless. I had a great time serving as a mentor to youth in church camps for several years.

Our first session

While a first session is typically gathering psychosocial history, I make a conscious effort to get to know you, probe what you want to get out of therapy, explore short/long-term goals, and assess your desire for change.
