My name is Julie White, and I am a CA Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and NBCC National Certified Counselor. I started my counseling career working at non-profit inpatient settings with individuals struggling with dual diagnosis, including substance use, PTSD, eating disorders, and anxiety. I later transitioned into an outpatient setting where I now work with individuals who may be experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, pregnancy/ prenatal/ postpartum difficulties, grief, and stress.
My approach
I truly believe that therapy is a journey and that the counselor and client must work together as a team for the best outcomes. I believe that each individual is an expert in their own lives and that I serve the purpose of providing a safe space to explore, learn, and work toward whatever goals there may be. In addition to my humanistic approach, I am well-versed in modalities, including acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and narrative therapy.
My focus
Many of the clients I have the honor of working with are looking to process events and/or situations, explore feelings, and learn coping skills to manage their symptoms and/or distress. I am big on meeting each individual where they are with their journey and goals to best inform our treatment together.
My communication style
Overall, my communication style is validating yet direct. I believe my calming tone and demeanor. In addition to empathetic listening, create a safe space for individuals to engage in the therapeutic process and build trust.
My first session with you
For our first session, we will complete an intake together to gather background information, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. I will also give you the time to ask any questions you may have to ensure we are a good fit to work together.
