Hi there, I'm Balwindar!

Hi! I'm Balwindar Kaur and I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist. I provide individual Telehealth therapy to clients all throughout California. I specialize in working with adults who feel stuck in life and are struggling with anxiety, depression, and those who have experienced trauma in their lives. I tailor therapy to meet the needs of the clients and use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), depending on the needs of the clients and what fits best for them.

My approach

I approach therapy by focusing on the individual needs of the client, as each individual person is unique. I tailor therapy and use modalities that best fit what the client is looking for and the help that they need to move them forward in life. Primarily, the modalities that I rely on the most are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

My focus

I primarily work with adults who struggle with stressors in their life that then show up as anxiety, depression and/or interpersonal difficulties. These can come from life transitions, relationship challenges, and previous traumatic experiences that create challenges in moving forward in life. I focus the sessions so that the client can learn new ways to navigate these stressors by learning new skills, finding new ways to explore their emotions, and helping them build a life they find worth living.

My communication style

My style and approach can be described as empathetic, personable, and compassionate. My main focus in each session is to ensure that the client feels comfortable and that there is a foundation of trust to help allow the client to feel comfortable. I try my best to ensure that the client feels heard and understood when they are in the room with me.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a psychologist because it was important for me to be able to provide help and support to people to help them become the best versions of themselves. I've always enjoyed getting to know people and hearing about the unique experiences that they have had in life. It is important for me to see that people get the help and support they need so that they do not feel alone in their journey.

My goals for you

I work collaboratively with the client to create realistic goals. I ensure that the goals that are set are realistic and attainable to help the client so that they are able to take those next steps in their journey.

My first session with you

Our first session together will be exploring what brought you to therapy and helping you identify your needs. We will explore your past so that I can get to know you in whatever ways that you are comfortable sharing. The focus of the first session is primarily on making sure that we are working together to explore what successful therapy treatment looks like for you and creating specific steps to help you get to that desired place.
