Hi, I'm Nidza Clarke, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I provide a safe space for clients to work collaboratively with me. Together we look at obstacles preventing them from having a more fulfilling life. I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety and challenging life and relationship situations.
My approach
I work mostly from a client-centered and CBT approach. I believe that therapy has to be about the client and each client is individual. We work together to come up with strategies and tools that best fit the individual. We also work on thought processes and how to change what patterns are not working.
My focus
My clients are people who may be struggling with anxiety and may be feeling overwhelmed by life stressors and situations that can feel out of control. Typically, the individuals I work with are dealing with various changes in life and relationships and are experiencing feelings of anxiety and depression, and they want to find ways to make changes.
My communication style
I have a very empathetic way of being. I understand that it takes courage to make a change. I treat all my clients with a great deal of respect regarding their individual circumstances. I work collaboratively with clients and believe that they have come to therapy because they want to work on change. I hold hope for my client's change when they don't yet have it for themselves.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been fascinated by how the brain and psyche develop. I studied early child development and was a preschool teacher. I believe that we all experience situations in our life in which we need some extra support. Therapy can provide nonbiased support that can create long-lasting change. I am driven to do this work because I believe in the power of support and change wholeheartedly.
My goals for you
We work together to establish what goals my clients have come to therapy to achieve. We continue to assess and reassess the goals as we move through the therapeutic process.
My first session with you
I really want to understand who my client is. It is important that I hear who my client is, so that I may better understand their circumstance. I provide a warm safe container that encourages trust-building and communication.
