My approach

Therapy is a collaborative process. I use motivational interviewing to help you identify sources of stress and anxiety, then provide tools and skills to lessen these disruptive feelings. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and family system patterns.

My communication style

My style is warm and open. I use humor and playfulness when appropriate. Being a good listener and effectively reflecting your feelings is very important to me. Clients report feeling emotionally heard and validated without judgment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was motivated to help people suffering from anxiety, depression, and oppression. After a successful business career in nonprofit housing development and social investing, I returned to social work as a way to give back to the community.

My goals for you

I help you identify short and long-term goals through motivational interviewing, then provide specific tools to work on between sessions. At each session, we review what worked and what didn't, adjusting techniques as needed to effectively address your goals.

Our first session

I ask what brings you to therapy and provide an overview of my expertise. We discuss the treatment agreement, including confidentiality and what to expect from therapy. You choose a main area of focus, and I provide homework to start you on the path to meeting your objectives.
