My name is Chantal Stendardo, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with an extensive history of individual therapy, crisis intervention, marriage counseling, and family therapy. Therapy is an interactive process between the therapist and client with the purpose of improving the client's quality of life in any number of ways.
My approach
My therapeutic approach focuses on taking action, either by setting and accomplishing tasks, or improving insight and outlook. My therapeutic approach varies based on individual needs, however, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed therapy are the most common.
My focus
Much of my career has included the evaluation and treatment of adults who have struggled with a wide range of symptoms and circumstances. Focusing on depression, anxiety, family stress, trauma history, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and co-occurring disorders (having both mental health symptoms and a substance use disorder) have made up the bulk of my psychotherapy experience.
My communication style
My communication style is clear, open, and honest. I am supportive and encouraging while noting opportunities for improvement and identifying ways to reframe the way circumstances are viewed and interpreted.
