Hello, my name is Tina Williams and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, based in Southern California and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with families, couples, children, and individuals, to strengthen their relationships hoping to help them find a healthy perception of themselves, to be peaceful, whole, complete, and safe.
My approach
I value cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy. Even though there is no single approach that is the right one for every individual that I help, I value cognitive behavioral therapy because it focuses on how our thinking affects the way we feel and behave, and person-centered therapy because it gives the clients that I work with the responsibility to deal with their problems and concerns.
My focus
I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I'm most comfortable working with clients that are struggling with depression, anxiety, low-self esteem, and intrusive thoughts.
My communication style
My communication style is welcoming. I create an atmosphere where the client feels comfortable and relaxed. The client will be able to go at their own pace and at any time they need to stop or even walk away, they may do so. I want them to know and feel that this is their safe place and that I will listen to them with no judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had the desire to help others, encouraging others to be the best that they could be. Telling them, that it's not how you start, it's how you finish. Psychology caught my eye, which lead to my journey to becoming a therapist. I have found it to be rewarding to assist people in achieving self-awareness, and honesty, as well as helping others deal with anxiety in a realistic way.
My goals for you
Collaborating with the client is my approach. The goal would be to assist the client in achieving a greater degree of independence, getting their mind into an overall place of wellness so that they can find stability, and happiness in their life, and be able to cope better with their problems as they identify them.
My first session with you
What a client could expect during the first session with me is warmth and genuineness. I get to know them, by listening to them with no judgment. Gaining their trust and creating a safe place for them is important. The client will not feel rushed, they will feel relaxed and not judged.
