Hi there, I'm Priscilla!

Greetings and congrats on making the steps toward cultivating a better you! My name is Priscilla Amezquita and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of clinical experience treating children, adults, and their families. it has been a privilege to be entrusted with helping individuals heal psychological wounds associated with painful life transitions and experiences, and it has been a joyful experience witnessing my clients' growth and progress toward a better version of themselves.

My approach

As a first gen Mexican American, I bring an awareness of culture and how this influences our identity, relationship with others/ourselves, and how we typically cope with life stressors. Since you are the expert of your lived experience, consider me a compassionate detective gathering facts to conceptualize your unique history. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, which means I employ a variety of elements and interventions from different frameworks/theories to tailor treatment to your specific intersectional background, mental health needs, and goals. Together we will examine your unique history, identify any maladaptive behavioral or cognitive patterns that no longer serve your growth, and create a treatment plan that allows you to transcend from survival mode to thriving in life.

My focus

The majority of my focus and clinical background has been treating youth/adults with anxiety, stress, and depressive-related disorders, as well as adolescents and adults with sexual trauma history in outpatient and community settings.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, humorous, and encouraging, but I can also "shoot from the hip" and be direct if my client expresses a more direct approach. I'm a therapist, so of course I'm compassionate, and empathetic and provide a safe space to hold your distressing thoughts and feelings without judgment and encourage vulnerable moments for self-reflection and affective expression.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey into becoming a mental health therapist is like most you've probably already read. I was born with the gifts of compassionate curiosity, empathy, and the desire to help others, so naturally, by my sophomore year of college, I realized that the best way to earn a living was to enter a field where I get paid for doing what I love.

My goals for you

We will work collaboratively to set your goals. I'm here to offer my professional expertise, but This is YOUR life, so you set your goals and I offer services to help you achieve them. We will identify ways to measure/rate progress and adjust/modify goals, as needed to help you get to the psychological space you desire to be.

My first session with you

I will learn about your life experiences and what has driven your current desire to seek help for a better you. I will answer any questions you may still have about my experience or qualifications.
