Hello, I'm Dr. Susan Varghese, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. As Fred Rogers once said, "Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about your feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary."
My approach
My approach is to provide you with a safe, confidential, and supportive space where you can focus on yourself and your mental health. Together, we will work to help you find your inner strength and resilience to overcome the challenges you are facing.
My focus
I work with children, adults, and families who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, painful life experiences, grief, loss, and relationship concerns. My goal is to help you manage day-to-day stressors and take care of yourself so you can live life to the fullest.
My communication style
I strive to create an open, non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. Through compassionate and collaborative dialogue, we will explore your challenges and develop strategies to help you move forward in a positive direction.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been deeply drawn to helping others. This led me to pursue a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Penn State University. For many years, I have worked in the mental health field, passionately assisting individuals and families in overcoming difficulties and achieving greater well-being.

My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, understood, and empowered with practical tools and insights to make meaningful changes in your life. I aim to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, build healthier relationships, and develop greater resilience to face life's challenges.
My first session with you
During our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I will ask questions to gain a better understanding of your unique situation, background, and personality. This will help lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect.
