Hello, I am Mrs. Prudence Jenkins, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Texas and California. With over 25 years of counseling experience across the private sector and institutions, I have worked extensively with adolescents, adults, prisoners, and the military community.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is warm, non-judgmental, and genuine, integrating a holistic, strength-based perspective committed to helping clients achieve their goals. I utilize evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, tailoring treatment to each client's unique needs with an eclectic and culturally sensitive style.
My focus
I specialize in working with individuals, offering treatment for a wide range of concerns including behavioral issues, coping skills, alcohol use, depression, grief, relationship issues, self-esteem, substance use, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, sexual abuse, stress, and anger management.
My communication style
Clients can expect me to communicate in a caring, direct, and authentic manner. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard and validated as we collaborate to develop effective strategies for growth and healing.
My journey to mental healthcare
My path to mental healthcare began with a deep desire to support others in overcoming life's challenges. Obtaining my Bachelor's and Master of Social Work degrees from San Diego State University equipped me with the knowledge and skills to make a meaningful difference. I completed my clinical training hours from January 2012 to July 2015 which solidified my passion for this important work.
My goals for you
My goal is to empower you with the tools and insights needed to lead a more fulfilling, balanced life. Whether you are struggling with past traumas, or current stressors, or want to enhance your overall well-being, I am committed to supporting you every step of the way. Together, we will identify and build upon your unique strengths, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and work towards sustainable, positive change.
My first session with you
During our first session, we will focus on building rapport and trust. I will actively listen to your story, concerns, and goals for therapy, gathering information to develop a personalized treatment plan. This initial meeting is an opportunity for you to ask questions, express your expectations, and determine if we are a good fit. My priority is to create a comfortable, collaborative environment where you feel safe to share and explore.
