Hello, my name is Fernando Rios, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who has been in practice since 2006. I enjoy working with individual adults who are experiencing mental health concerns and want to manage their symptoms, reduce their impairments, and navigate through their life stressors. I focus on soliciting specific feedback from my clients and collaborate with them to develop a tailored treatment plan that is ethical, practical, and effective in addressing their concerns.
My approach
I utilize feedback-informed treatment and incorporate CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, trauma-informed modalities, and narrative therapy.
My focus
I enjoy working with adult individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and adjustment problems due to changes, losses, or transitions in life. I also work from trauma-informed modalities that can be helpful in processing trauma that may be a barrier in someone's life.
My communication style
I work from a person-centered approach in which the clients are collaborators in their treatment. I encourage clients to communicate honest and sincere feedback in therapy that could inform my treatment style and the treatment plan so that I may offer the skills, practices, and interventions conducive to my clients' change and progress.
My journey to mental healthcare
I came into the field when I discovered the passion I have for life and for the relationships I have with people, and after going through some challenging lessons in my own life that led me on a journey of exploration, frustrations, pain, maturity, and growth.
My goals for you
I have an open and honest conversation with my clients about what they want to get out of my services. I collaborate with my clients to develop the goals that they want to work on and wish to achieve so that they get the results they are looking for.
My first session with you
In my first session, we will spend time establishing our therapeutic relationship and I will answer any clarifying questions you might have about therapy and the services I offer. We will collaboratively explore the reason(s) you are seeking therapeutic services while you provide me with background information about yourself so that I may learn more about you.
