Hey there, I'm Joanna Cain, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. With years of experience, I work with individuals of all ages, and different walks of life, specializing in mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and autism that interfere with those relationships and daily life demands. Assisting clients to identify their own needs and providing them with the skills needed to achieve their goals is my approach.
My approach
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my role is to provide my clients with an individualized, stable, and safe space that is compassionate and nurturing and helps to assist them with working through issues during difficult times. Also, I place a significant focus on assisting clients with building more positive, stronger, and closer relationships with their families and others. Lastly, I work with adolescents, children, and their families to utilize the best possible model that coincides with the needs of my clients in order to help build a stronger sense of self and live more successful and fulfilling lives.
My focus
I am comfortable with those clients who feel I am a good fit for them and they are comfortable in themselves to work with me as their therapist. My experience has been with adolescents, families, individuals, couples, and transgender youth who are fighting through challenges and life pressures.
My communication style
My communication style is give-and-take dialogue, listening with attentiveness with constant engagement; that being honest and compassionate; fighting through the difficult parts of communication is key to promoting change, and improvements.
My journey to mental healthcare
Rapport building, finding out why the client is seeking services and what they would like to get out of services.
My goals for you
I was a parenting child, having to assist with raising my sibling and a cousin, when my own mother became physically sick for years. I understood, as a child looking at the marriage of my parents, what a marriage looked like, and the difference between children, family, and marriage; it was us and them.
My first session with you
After a few sessions, obtain an idea of what the client states they need and read a gathering of information.
