My name is Tiffany Hanzal and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California. I have over ten years of clinical experience in various diverse areas including working with those with needs in Crisis, Trauma, Grief, Anxiety, Depression, addiction, Dual-Diagnosis, life stress, and Post- Traumatic Stress. My approach to therapy is client-centered. I like to explore the individual's needs and their unique responses with a holistic and integrated approach to healing and recovery which may include multiple approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused and Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, as well as Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy.
My approach
My approach to providing therapy is to ensure that an integrative approach is used to allow for flexibility and to respond directly to each client's needs and goals. The most common theoretical approaches I introduce to each client include Humanistic and Client-Centered Counseling to ensure an empathetic and non-judgmental space is created for the client including feelings of openness and acceptance and unconditional positive regard, Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy to assist in guiding the client in navigating and developing the tools to manage how their thoughts and feelings influence behavior and responses to multiple aspects of life, Mindfulness-Based approach to assist the client in getting accustomed to becoming aware of and accepting their thoughts and feelings at the moment they are happening with the goal to develop skills to manage emotional stressors reflectively rather than reflexively, Rational-Emotive Therapy to assist the client in moving away from defaulting to self-defeating beliefs and develop a more positive sense of well being, as well as a Solution-Focused Approach.
My focus
I have experience with clients experiencing symptoms and challenges with Anxiety, Depression, Addiction, those with a history of mental health disorders including Bi-Polar Disorders, and PTSD, and those recovering from a recent crisis and/or traumatic event. I am happy to work with all individuals and any type of background, sexual orientation, and religious belief.
My communication style
I make my best attempt to remove any feelings of a sterile or clinical environment and create a space that feels safe, welcoming, and kind. I often use humor and relatability to assist in the process of developing a non-judgmental, accepting, and empathetic relationship with clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have had the opportunity to see and experience how hope, encouragement, empowerment, and unconditional empathy can motivate and ease the emotional burdens of many people. I am honored to be a part of the process that hopefully, gives individuals the tools and strength to create the life they want and deserve.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting as client-led. Goals and needs often change once recovery and healing start. I follow the client's lead while providing guidance and insight when needed to assist in the client identifying and navigating their needs and goals.
My first session with you
They should expect a friendly and non-judgmental session to get to know their history, current needs, and goals for wellness and recovery.
