My communication style

I am good-natured, easy going, but I've been told I am powerful and intense am direct but loving and unafraid to be with you in your most scary, intense old places. I create a non-judgmental environment of curious awareness in which we are taking agenda and problem-solving off the table and focusing radically on the present moment.

My journey to mental healthcare

Having grown up in a chaotic household, I entered grad school. I discovered that I was a compassionate, anxious person with chronic pain, which, through discovering Somatic therapy and using it in my work, I was able to heal from entirely. Understanding the mind-body connection between mental and physical states changed my life and my profession.

My goals for you

In a session, I begin with a somatic (body) experiencing in which you notice sensations in real time in the body, and I help guide you underneath your normal intellectual processing and psychic defenses, so that you can release stuck emotions ready to be felt. I assist with nervous system regulation and use tools seen in traditional EMDR.

Our first session

In a first session, I have you sit down and dive right in to the present moment- We establish a focus for the work (every time), we notice how regulated your nervous system is/isn't, your emotions in the body or physical sensations, and how they shift if we maintain awareness and stay out of the mind. This leads to profound results generally.
