Hello, my name is Peyman Garakani and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety and have extensive experience dealing with matters of grief. My approach
I utilize an Eclectic approach to cater to my client's specific needs. I believe talk therapy often should be supplemented with out-of-session tasks to maximize progress and growth. These may include suggestive readings, journaling, and thought records.
My focus
My client population consists of individuals 18 and over. I treat Mood and Anxiety-related disorders.
My communication style
I provide a warm, safe, and open environment. No topic is off-limits. I am easy to communicate with and will not hesitate to offer my feedback.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a youngster, I had a strong curiosity about human behavior. I often wondered "why do some individuals behave and approach life in one manner, while others in different ways." This led me toward my studies in sociology, psychology, and social work. When I directly began to work with people in the community, I noticed a strong feeling of joy and gratification when I was able to help them through something. It is this feeling that continues to carry me through my career.
My goals for you
Goals are determined according to the unique needs of my patients and through collaboration. Think of me as the conductor/facilitator of the symphony, however, you are the one playing your instrument, taking control of your own path.
My first session with you
My first session will be based on understanding your core issues, reviewing key intake information, discussing the therapeutic process, your expectations, goals and establishing rapport.
