Hi there, I'm Maria!

Welcome to my page! I am a bilingual, bicultural therapist, and I have been a licensed therapist for over 30 years. I still love doing therapy and helping people despite my 30-plus years in this field.

My focus

I have a passion for working the Latino community and with people who are struggling to manage traumas, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I have extensive helping people manage these issues. I feel privileged to be a part of the journey with my clients. I believe the therapeutic relationship you have with your therapist is important.

My approach

The approaches that I use are several, including evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic strategies (focus on reconnecting with our body), and client-centered approaches. Each client is unique; therefore, how we address your needs will be tailored to you in our work together.

My communication style

I believe in the importance of clear, honest communication. I strive to be honest, clear, non judgmental in my communication style. Being an active listener is an important component of communicating, and I practice active listening as well.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a teen, I received therapy as I was struggling emotionally. That experience changed my life for the better. I want to offer this experience of learning, healing, growing, and moving on from the challenges we may have experienced. My own experience and seeing my clients experience their own growth process is inspirational.

My goals for you

I work in collaboration to develop goals based on your needs. We use specific strategies from the therapy modalities mentioned above to help you manage your anxiety, depression, etc.

Our first session

In our first session, we will get to know one another. I will want to know more about you, what brought you to therapy, what your main concerns are, and what your goals are. I am always happy to explain the process of therapy and answer any questions someone might have.
