My communication style

My authentic self is one of humor. I’m a bit irreverent, nerdy, and a self-described “goofball.” I’m persuasive but not pushy, and recognize the importance of meeting the client “where they are,” which means understanding that it’s not my journey; nor is it my timetable. I’m also very honest and open.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was first inspired by Sally Field and Joanne Woodward in the television movie “Sybil” and decided then and there that I wanted to become a psychiatrist. It’s been more than 40 years since then, and I remain just as fascinated and enthralled by the intricacies and complexities of the human brain. I was also trained as a social worker.

My goals for you

By asking why therapy, why now, I feel that building a strong therapeutic bond is paramount in our work together. It's also crucial to success that a team is formed, and that the team leader has to be you.

Our first session

A first session is all about getting to know each other and starting to feel comfortable. You'll discover that I have a strong sense of fun, and you'll likely meet my therapy dog, Winnie, who often dozes in all of my sessions.
