My name is Brenda Brazier, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) working with clients in the state of California. I work with adolescents and adults and have experience with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma. I incorporate mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches to help each client incorporate useful strategies for recovery.
My approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative, as I believe each person is the expert in his or her life. I often incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy and reality-based therapy so that therapy is customized to the needs of the client. I encourage choice and action in my therapeutic approach to therapy so that each individual can make positive changes that are meaningful to them.
My focus
My approach to therapy works best with transitional-age youth and adults. My areas of focus include mood disorders, transitional and early-life mental health issues, self-esteem, and trauma.
My communication style
My communication style is empathetic and non-judgmental. I work with each client to create a safe space to share his or her personal experience.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my journey as a therapist with the sole purpose of helping those who are finding it challenging to cope with life's difficulties. I sincerely believe that every human deserves to live a happy and fulfilled life. Regardless of life circumstances, I do believe that change is possible.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting from a humanistic perspective incorporating the belief that each person is capable of making choices that are right for them. I encourage self-exploration (autonomy) and the evaluation of prior experiences with goal setting to set the direction in therapy.
My first session with you
Essentially, my goal at the onset of therapy is to build a therapeutic alliance with my clients to allow them to share their experiences and areas of concern. I encourage a person-centered approach so that each session meets the individual needs of the client. From the onset of therapy, I provide a positive atmosphere that encourages self-exploration.
