Hi, I am Marcia Colette Gallion LCSW, and I use my middle name, "Colette." I am a licensed clinical social worker. I believe in helping clients understand and resolve their internal conflicts to help them lead a happier, fuller life.
My approach
My approach is eclectic, but I do value insight-oriented treatment. Additionally, I am open to helping clients problem-solve things that limit their happiness and growth. I tend to draw on Carl Rogers' client-centered approach and to help clients learn how their emotions are coloring their perceptions.
My focus
I am experienced in working with the elderly, LGBT+ clients, those who were abused, and those who deal with depression and other mood disorders, racial trauma, and substance or long-term mental illness.
My communication style
I find that these issues are treatable in the warm, safe, teletherapeutic environment that I create and maintain.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been interested in psychology since childhood, but I was afraid to work in the field because I had always heard that the S.F. Bay Area had too many therapists. The college counselor whom I saw helped me to pursue my passion. This led me to value the work even more and to remain in this rewarding field for over thirty years.
My goals for you
In the early stages of our work together, we will clarify your goals and expectations of therapy and how I will help you. We will work together to achieve your goals and will review and reformulate them as necessary.
My first session with you
Our first session will be about getting to know each other, completing the necessary paperwork, and clarifying policies.
