Hi there, I'm Carrie!

I entered this field because I want to help people experience more joy, connection, and freedom in their lives. Life hands us difficult challenges, and some of us carry extra burdens that leave us feeling stuck. As a therapist, my goal is to help you learn new skills, make empowering choices, and take action to improve the quality of your life experiences and outcomes.

My approach

I believe there are always ways we can work to get unstuck and redirect away from destructive patterns. Therapy provides a beautiful opportunity for growth and healing, especially when our loved ones don't have the capacity to help us with the emotional, circumstantial, or relational challenges we face. My approach is person-centered and draws from cognitive-behavioral and Gestalt modalities to help you find solutions and relief.

My focus

I work with individuals, couples, minors (ages 13-17), and families dealing with a range of mental health issues and life stressors. My specialties include addiction, substance use, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, LGBTQIA+ issues, gender identity, women's issues, and trauma/PTSD. I'm skilled in crisis intervention, addiction recovery, and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.

My communication style

You can expect me to communicate in a warm, non-judgmental way. I'll listen closely to understand your unique experiences, needs and goals. We'll collaborate as a team, but I'll look to you as the expert on your own life. While I can guide the process, provide tools, and offer a fresh perspective, you'll always be in the driver's seat of your healing journey.

My journey to mental healthcare

I began my journey in mental healthcare after receiving my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University. I spent several years from 2014 to 2017 working at Del Amo Hospital in Torrance, CA to accrue my clinical hours for licensure. Over the past decade, I've helped children, teens, and adults navigate diverse life and mental health challenges. My work is deeply fulfilling as I get to support people in living freer, more joyful lives.

My goals for you

My goal is to empower you with greater self-understanding, emotional relief, and practical strategies to improve your life and relationships. I want to help you get out of your own way, break free from what holds you back, and move toward the meaningful changes you seek. Together, we'll work at your pace to develop your inner resources and inherent strengths.

My first session with you

In our first session, we'll discuss what's bringing you to therapy and how I can best support you. I'll ask about your current challenges, relevant history, and hopes for our work together. We'll begin to develop a comfortable rapport as we collaboratively explore your needs, preferences, and goals. This is also a time for you to see if you feel I'm a good fit as your therapist. My priority is for you to feel safe, respected, and understood from the very start.
