My name is Sujey Diaz-Blanchard and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in California. I provide services via telehealth. I offer a therapeutic approach that is eclectic, person-centered, holistic, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I have spent two decades working with families, children, teens, and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, adjustment to changes, and parenting challenges.
My approach
I integrate various therapeutic treatment approaches based on your unique needs, challenges, and progress in the therapy process. I most frequently use mindfulness, somatic, and trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral interventions that offer a holistic approach to helping clients understand and regulate their nervous system in response to stress; break free of negative cycles, interrupt and transform unhelpful patterns, deepen their connection to themselves and others to create lasting change.
My focus
Are you experiencing depression by constantly ruminating about the past and/or anxiety by constantly worrying about the future? Have you experienced a traumatic event that may have left you feeling stuck, out of control, shame, and guilt? Trauma, depression, and anxiety can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and others in the present. We will work together to help you reconnect your body and mind to regain a sense of safety, and control. I've also spent decades working with families feeling overwhelmed with parenting challenges, disrupting the parent-child relationship and family dynamics.
My communication style
Change, growth, and healing happen when you are in an environment and in a relationship that feels safe, trusting, and nurturing. As a therapist, my top priority is to build a connection and a trusting therapeutic alliance with you to foster healing and growth by creating an open and inviting environment with compassion, empathy, and acceptance. We will work together to support you gain self-awareness, knowledge, and skills to guide your healing journey.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a teenager, I experienced life stressors that in time became difficult to manage and impacted my mental health. I reluctantly agreed to see a therapist and it was the best decision. I gained knowledge and skills helping me feel empowered and more in control of my life. My personal experience with therapy helped me develop self-awareness and an analytical mind guiding my journey to self-healing and leading me to my career path as a therapist to help others heal.
My goals for you
You are in control of your healing journey and we will partner to identify your therapeutic goals and supportive treatment interventions honoring your unique strengths, needs, and challenges. It's important to establish goals that are realistic to accomplish based on where you are in your healing journey, the changes you desire and are ready to make with the support of a nurturing, compassionate, and proactive therapeutic relationship. We would regularly check in on the progress made toward goals and modify them as needed.
My first session with you
Our first session is an opportunity to start building a genuine connection and build trust. We will have an open conversation about what you are feeling and discuss the current challenges you are experiencing that bring you to therapy. I will provide a safe space for us to start getting to know each other by asking questions and exploring any areas of concern that will help us have a good understanding of what you want most from therapy and agree on the best initial treatment plan.
