My name is Maria A. Gonzalez, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working with clients statewide via telehealth. As a dedicated mental health therapist, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and stress. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus therapy, and mindfulness training allows me to help my clients make progress and start feeling better.
My approach
I believe in fostering a warm and empathetic therapeutic environment where individuals feel heard, understood, and supported. My goal is to empower my clients to develop resilience, enhance self-awareness, and cultivate the necessary skills to overcome their mental health challenges. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach, to help individuals overcome their struggles with depression, anxiety, and stress.
My focus
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from various backgrounds, helping them navigate the challenges of depression, anxiety, and stress. I have witnessed remarkable transformations as clients develop healthier coping mechanisms, gain insight into their emotions, and regain control over their lives.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and personable. I believe in fostering a warm and empathetic therapeutic environment where individuals feel heard, understood, and supported. My goal is to empower my clients to develop resilience, enhance self-awareness, and cultivate the necessary skills to overcome their mental health challenges.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was attracted to a career as a therapist because of my desire to help others who may be struggling to understand or cope with challenges.
My goals for you
My approach in goal setting with clients is working together to collaboratively develop a goal for therapy. Typically, it will begin with having an understanding of what it means to be in therapy. We will then develop measurable goals and track the progress throughout therapy.
My first session with you
The first session will be about spending the majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently, and I will be asking questions to gain a better understanding of why you may feel that way. The first session is about building that initial connection and begin working on a therapeutic alliance. This will help me get a better understanding of where we should go from there.
