My name is Tyeast Brown and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) in California and work with various clients via telehealth. I have worked in the mental health field for over 25 years and utilize different tools to fit the needs of each client.
My approach
I have primarily used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Trauma Focused Therapy in areas such as parenting issues, body image, cultural identity, trauma, behavioral issues, anxiety and depression to name a few. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and can delve into issues from sexual exploration to chronic pain.
My focus
My approach to therapy varies depending on the needs of each client. I work well with children, teens/adolescents, young adults, transitional-age youth, couples, and individuals via different evidence-based modalities.
My communication style
My communication style is collaborative, conversational and natural. I am open and will call a spade, a spade!!
My journey to mental healthcare
I started working with children with behavioral issues and trauma in the group home setting to DCFS cases to adults in private practice. Bottom line….helping others is deeply rooted inside me and I will help you in any way that I can.
My goals for you
Being able to collaborate with you is an important part of the process. I start by meeting you wherever you are in your process and work from there. Together, we can unpack your past or current experiences and make a plan for the goals you want to accomplish. Therapy is about you and I will help you develop your goals for therapy while supporting you along the way.
My first session with you
I will listen to your story, background and anything else you would like to share so we can get to the meat and potatoes (or nuts and bolts if you don’t eat meat) of the issues.
