Hi, I'm Cinthya Islas and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My main focus over the last 10 years has been working with individuals who have experienced different types of trauma in their lives. I understand how difficult it may be to talk about the things that impact life in more ways than one, my goal is to create a space where you can explore your feelings and gain insight into how these wounds have impacted your life and hopefully identify the coping skills that work for you to continue on this healing journey.
My approach
You are the expert in your life, and my role is to provide support to you through different interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused and Problem Solving interventions using a trauma-informed approach to better support you and help identify those patterns that keep getting in the way of reaching balance, fulfillment and joy in your life.
My focus
Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals who have had adverse experiences that impacted their ability to relate to others and impacted their perception of their self-worth which can sometimes lead to depressive, anxious, or trauma-related symptoms.
My communication style
It is important that you feel safe and free to talk about the things that impact you the most. It is always my goal to create a space that feels supportive to you where we can nurture self-compassion. I believe that direct and open communication is important and I think this will build trust and establish a strong therapeutic relationship.
My journey to mental healthcare
My own experiences in life are a big contributor factor to becoming a therapist. I believe the power of witnessing pain and holding sacred space can be transformational. It is an honor to be part of a growing and healing journey and doing this work is one of the things that bring purpose and meaning to my life. Together, we can work on ways to become better for ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities.
My goals for you
These are your sessions and during our first meeting, we will discuss your goals for therapy and what success might look or feel like for you in order to ensure the time we spend together is aligned with your goals.
My first session with you
We will explore the reason you are in therapy, your goals, whatever you are comfortable sharing about your history, and have time for questions.
