Hi there, I'm Rachel!

I want to help you live to your full potential. I take a holistic approach and will work with you collaboratively to identify ways you can become unstuck and live more fully. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based. If you want to incorporate your faith journey, I'm comfortable doing that.

My focus

I help clients work through depression, grief and loss, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, moral injuries, relationship difficulties, setting boundaries, achieving health goals, and communicating effectively. I've worked with university students, military veterans, sexual assault survivors, and those struggling in relationships and achieving life goals.

My approach

I'm integrative and adjust to your needs. I want to understand you in the context of your family of origin because it shapes how you show up in relationships. Traumas and painful life events can profoundly impact your identities and self-esteem. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral principles because how we think and speak shapes our reality.

My communication style

I communicate directly in a kind and respectful manner. I'll periodically check in to see what's working and what needs adjustment. My goal is to create an atmosphere where you feel comfortable and supported to open up and share what's on your mind and heart. I want to understand, so I'll ask questions to help you clarify your experience.

My journey to mental healthcare

I remember as a young child wondering what it was like to be other people. My ability to take others' perspectives began at a young age, and I think that's a very important element in being a therapist. I genuinely enjoy my work with clients and find a great deal of fulfillment in helping others live more fully.

My goals for you

In our first or second session, we'll lay out what you want to accomplish in therapy. Each session, I'll ask what you want to work on that day and keep in mind the goals you've set. Since it's difficult to assess completion of vague goals, I'll ask you to be specific. As our work continues, you'll likely see more clearly how you want to grow.

I'm trying to get to know you and help you feel at ease. I'm gathering information about what brings you into therapy in a way that feels comfortable for you and your pace. At the same time, you're getting to know me. We'll establish the goals you want to work on in therapy. I like to check in often to see how you're experiencing our work together.
