I have worked in the mental health field for 18 years. And in this time, I've had the unique opportunity to provide services to a highly diverse population, including but not limited to: ages ranging from 5-70, various socio-economic groups, the LGBTQ population, at-risk youth, military/law enforcement families, single parent/divorce/same-sex co-parenting families, and families involved in the justice system. I take pride in utilizing evidence-based practices & viewing each case as unique in its own right. I am honored to be a part of each of my client's journeys and use my personal and professional experiences throughout.
My approach
I most often utilize cognitive-behavioral methods in my practice; however, I realize that each person is unique and I am aware that I may need to change my methods depending on the clients' needs.
My focus
I am comfortable working with a variety of clients ranging in age and background. I have extensive experience with anxiety, grief, depression, difficulties with the process of divorce, trauma, family difficulties, relationship issues, school issues, difficulties with the military within military families and their unique experiences, and LGBTQ issues.
My communication style
I like to create a comfortable and safe environment where one can explore their journey at their own pace within their own comfort zone. I take a strong but kind approach to challenging cognitive distortions to support positive change.
My journey to mental healthcare
My personal experiences with mental health and seeing the need for positive change in the mental health field and wanting to be a part of that positive change are what drove me to become a therapist.
My goals for you
I like to set goals collaboratively with clients and visit goals throughout our time together to make sure the goals are growing and changing with the client throughout their journey.
My first session with you
During our first session, a client should expect to be able to ask any questions they may have about the process of therapy and, if appropriate, I would be asking background questions.
