I am a psychotherapist with 19 years of experience working at a children's hospital. I am multiracial, born in Mexico, and Spanish speaking. I am also a veteran that served during the OIF and OEF.
My approach
I do not adhere to any particular treatment modality but rather incorporate what is needed for my clients' clinical needs. My approach is often client-centered and reflective.
My focus
My general expertise is with children and their family units in a broad range of mental health issues, though I also serve the adult population with a wide range of mental health needs. I specialize in behavioral issues, child abuse or neglect, cultural stress, developmental disorders, domestic violence, learning disabilities, parenting, school issues, self-esteem, stress, anxiety, traumatic experiences, PTSD, and relationship issues.
My communication style
My communication style is warm, reflective, and culturally sensitive. I listen closely to understand your unique perspective and needs. Through open and honest dialogue, I aim to create a safe space where you feel heard, respected, and supported on your journey of growth and healing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I earned my Master of Science (MS) in Counseling Psychology from Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA from September 2009 to September 2011. My path to mental healthcare stems from my experiences as a veteran and being a father of three multiracial children.
My goals for you
I consider myself an antiracist and I am social justice oriented. My goal is to provide culturally sensitive care tailored to your unique needs, drawing from modalities such as child/parent psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, family therapy, trauma-focused approaches, and motivational interviewing.
My first session with you
In our first session, I look forward to meeting you and understanding your needs and goals. I aim to create a supportive, collaborative environment where we can work together towards your well-being and growth.
