My name is Laura Ourfalian and I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker. and I have been serving individuals from diverse backgrounds. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, anger management, peer relationships, grief and loss, and personal growth. I utilize an eclectic therapy approach to use the most effective methods to address the individual’s needs by carefully cultivating an intentional, individual plan for each individual.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with to address their unique needs. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Psychodynamic, Solution-focused therapy, and Strength-based Therapy to bring the unconscious into conscious awareness, support my clients in identifying their strengths, help identify goals, and support them in achieving their goals while empowering and promoting a positive sense of self.
My focus
I work with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and related issues. I work to help and support clients navigate these transitional periods, promote a positive sense of self, and learn to manage the experience of worry and anxiety that can inhibit one’s growth and enjoyment of life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and accommodating. I support individuals to explore thoughts and feelings, as well as discuss life challenges in a safe therapeutic environment through the use of unconditional positive regard.
My journey to mental healthcare
Being a therapist is showing compassion, empathy, support, and care for others. I am passionate about exploration, self-discovery, and healing. It is rewarding to see individuals become the best versions of themselves.
My goals for you
Goal setting is a collaborative process where we will work together to identify what we would like to achieve and accomplish during our time working together. This process will help build trust, get comfortable with being in therapy, and provide us the opportunity to measure progress.
My first session with you
Our first visit will be spent on building trust and a therapeutic alliance. Much of the time we will be talking about how you have been feeling recently. You can expect me to ask you some questions to better understand some of the challenges that you may be experiencing. The first meeting is about building trust and an opportunity for you to ask questions or concerns that you may have about the therapeutic process.
