I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Art Therapist, Board Certified. I view therapy as a creative process that promotes self-expression to aid clients in moving through blocks and working towards achieving their goals.
My approach
I meet my clients with empathy and compassion and work collaboratively to identify treatment priorities. The treatment modalities I use are art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (consists of a skill set combined with mindfulness focused on helping clients gain more control of their emotions), psychodynamic therapy, and trauma-focused CBT.
My focus
I work with children starting at age 8, teens, and young adults up to age 26. I treat anxiety, depression, panic attacks, mood disorders, stress, and trauma.
My communication style
I view my clients from a compassionate, interactive, and nonjudgemental perspective. I highlight my client's strengths and resilience and support them in moving through challenges as they take baby steps towards their goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always held the belief that everyone has a "wise mind", a place within, where they have the strengths, resources, and resilience to navigate through life's challenges in a skillful manner. I am driven to help others tap into those recourses to create a life worth living and to realize their dreams.
My goals for you
My approach works well with the child, teen, and young adult population I serve. Art therapy facilitates communication and self-expression with children, teens, and young adults. Teens and young adults experience a stage of life transition and identity formation. My therapy sessions are a safe place to communicate feelings, help clients navigate difficult transitions, achieve greater self-awareness, build self-esteem, develop coping skills, and live life more skillfully.
My first session with you
I will be exploring how you have been feeling recently and asking questions regarding why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about building a connection and determining your goals and priorities for treatment.
