Hi there, I'm Stephanie!

Hello, my name is Stephanie Reiter-Morrissey and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with twenty-four years of experience. I specialize in working with children/adolescents, adults, and families who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, social-emotional challenges, and stressful life transitions. I am here to help you navigate in order to gain self-awareness, build confidence and live a more connected and fulfilling life.

My approach

I utilize various models including cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based, brief solution-focused approach, and mindfulness.

My focus

General mental health services dedicated to building self-esteem and personal growth; Experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, and loss; Relationship challenges; parent/child conflicts; Twenty-five years of experience providing mental health services in a school setting as well as working with unique neurodiverse conditions (such as Autism). I also have extensive experience with psycho-social assessments, developing behavior support plans, and participating in IEP meetings and 504 plans. I enjoy implementing social skills programs as well as parent consultation/caregiver support.

My communication style

I utilize a caring, compassionate, and interactive counseling style that embodies respect and reflection. I provide a warm and safe environment in which my clients can explore and grow.

My journey to mental healthcare

At a young age, I found myself to be highly sensitive, passionate, and empathetic (sometimes to a fault). I double majored in Psychology and Sociology at Pitzer/Pomona College where I chose to study abroad in Zimbabwe for a semester. I lived in a rural village coupled with urban and suburban environment where I attended the University of Zimbabwe. I studied the social welfare, health, economic and political system as well as interned at an orphanage. It was working in a third-world country and this specific orphanage where it became clear to me that social work and advocacy would play a huge role in my professional and personal life. I became dedicated to serving and empowering others; helping the disenfranchised develop a voice. I feel grateful to be able to be in a position to help others and find this work incredibly meaningful and transformative.

My goals for you

My approach to treatment reflects your individual needs. I seek to build a partnership and utilize your strengths while teaching useful problem-solving and coping skills to help maximize your success. I usually work with clients weekly and assign homework assignments to promote growth and progress. Clients that work best with me are motivated to make a change and dedicated to their journey. I find great satisfaction in helping my clients progress as they become and more confident and successful in managing their unique challenges. As we meet set goals, life will become to feel more manageable and fulfilling.
