Hey there, I'm Jess Quessenberry. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a non-binary person (she/they) who works with a wide variety of individuals on many different issues.
My approach
My approach is very individualized and centered on the client. People aren't one-size-fits-all, so adapting to their personalities and needs is key. I tend to use Narrative Therapy as a way to help us see other possible stories about the events in our lives.
My focus
I have specific experience with queer/LGBTQIA+ clients, as well as with clients with trauma and neuro-divergence. I have a special interest in working with transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming clients.
My communication style
My tone for our sessions is fairly casual. I believe that one of the best ways for us to do good work together is to form a relationship where we feel open and honest with each other.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist to help others feel less lost and more seen in the midst of their struggles. As I have worked with clients over the years, I have discovered that the more authentically myself I am, the more impactful I can be.
My goals for you
I am here to help facilitate goals, but I will be looking to you for where you want to go. From my point of view, you are the expert on you. I am here to help you figure things out and help you have the confidence to move forward in your journey.
My first session with you
Our first session will center on meeting and getting to know each other. It is so key to do the work to build up that trust. We will also go over what has brought you into therapy and any other concerns you have.
