My name is Jennifer Plaistowe and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles. I am currently working with clients statewide via telehealth. Supporting others in their own journey toward growth, change, and healing is a privilege and passion of mine.
My approach
I believe that in therapy, we connect to each other as humans first and foremost. My approach is warm, supportive, and inclusive. I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy, incorporating somatic, mindfulness, trauma-informed, and cognitive behavioral therapies.
My focus
I specialize in supporting those who are attempting to manage anxiety, navigate relationship issues, treat depression, work through trauma, and cope with various life transitions.
My communication style
I am dedicated to creating a compassionate, safe, affirming, and non-judgmental space for others to explore life’s complex challenges. I admire every person I work with, as it takes courage and strength to explore our own lives and work toward healing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I’ve always thrived in spaces where I can listen, hold space for and be present with others navigating difficult times in their lives. Observing people connect with their own strengths, growing compassion within, and witnessing their willingness to heal is honestly the most beautiful thing about therapy. I feel privileged to do this kind of work with people.
My goals for you
Each individual is unique in their own experience and therefore I find it important to tailor treatment to your personal goals. Working collaboratively together to explore your own needs, hopes, and strengths is where we begin.
My first session with you
Our first session gives us an opportunity to connect and start a possible plan that best supports you. I will provide space and ask questions regarding how you have been feeling recently to better understand your current needs. I make every effort to ensure it is a welcoming and accepting environment.
