My communication style

I strive to reach rapport with the client so that negative emotions from either side do not interfere with communication. Emotional trust is important. Mistrust towards the therapist or people in general may become a central focus.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a young adult in college, I faced greater uncertainty about my employment future. I received therapy that helped me considerably. The experience of being a client has shaped my views of therapy.

My goals for you

I like to hear from the client about the changes he is looking for. As we continue meeting, I will ask if the client believes we are reaching these goals. It is often the case that the stated goals become redefined, especially if there is anxiety about making the change. We often tend to engage in self-protective measures in how we react to stress

Our first session

I will ask about previous therapy, the years growing up, work or educational history, health condition, marital status, or children. By the end of the session, if possible, I will make a few comments about the possible future path of the sessions.
