My communication style

My office environment is simple and welcoming. I do my best to create a comfortable counseling environment where patients can relax. Most of all, I want clients to feel safe in the surroundings to share with me as I listen intently to what they say. I use plenty of non-verbal feedback to assure them I am listening.

My journey to mental healthcare

I've valued mental health work for decades and have been a client myself. Those relationships made me a better person. I started as a substance abuse counselor, and my professors saw something in me I didn't see. My biggest motivator is helping you leave sessions with valuable insights and tools that reduce stress and promote peace.

My goals for you

I try to approach goal setting with the client by first asking them what their goals are and what they want to achieve in therapy. I intervene in this process rarely and only to help motivate them to search for and accomplish goals that further their lives in a positive manner. This is their journey, not mine. I am only a guide.

Our first session

My clients should expect a warm, welcoming, and inviting environment. I hope that they feel safe enough to share their stressors and difficulties with me. Also, this is the only time that I take notes for assessment and treatment plan purposes. I always ask their permission as well. Follow-up session notes are done after sessions.
