Hi there, I'm Kay!

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I believe in incorporating an eclectic style of therapeutic approaches to help you rediscover, reconnect, and renovate your unique inner strengths on your own life journey. I hold a master's degree in counseling psychology with a specialization in marriage and family therapy. I work and collaborate with adolescents and adults from various cultural and diverse backgrounds.

My approach

I believe in incorporating an eclectic style of therapeutic approaches including client-centered, strengths-based, humanistic/existential, gestalt, trauma-informed, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), psychodynamic, expressive arts, art, music, and play therapies. The desires or solutions for which we yearn or search for outside of ourselves are often already within us - we just may need help in reconnecting or recreating our true and authentic selves again.

My focus

I work with individuals, families, and couples. My specialties include adoption, adolescents/teens, anxiety, anger management, child abuse or neglect, addiction, coping skills, depression, grief, relationship issues, relapse prevention, self-esteem, self-harming, stress, trauma and PTSD, suicidal ideation, substance use, and spirituality.

My communication style

I aim to communicate in a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental way. I believe in collaborating with you to help reconnect you with your inner strengths and authentic self, just as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz discovered she already possessed the qualities she was seeking externally.

My journey to mental healthcare

I pursued a path in mental healthcare after earning degrees in counseling psychology with a specialization in marriage and family therapy from National University, visual communications from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and mass communications with a minor in theatre arts from University of Iowa. My eclectic educational background informs my creative and multifaceted approach to therapy.

My goals for you

My goal is to help guide and support you in rediscovering, reconnecting with, and renovating your unique inner strengths. I aim to empower you with the tools, self-awareness, and renewed sense of authenticity to navigate your own life path with resilience.
