My communication style

I'll start gently, but pretty quickly I'll begin cutting to the chase and peeling back layers of unconscious defenses you've developed. Through humor, appropriate self-disclosure, stories, and questions, I'll walk with you through self-exploration, learning and unlearning, and self-actualization.

My journey to mental healthcare

I had a hard childhood that prompted me to develop some unhealthy coping strategies. My life experiences moved me toward becoming a mental health professional. First, I wanted to figure myself out, and then I found fulfillment in working with others.

My goals for you

Goal-setting is of primary importance in our work. Clarifying your goals is so important that it's the first significant thing we do. Having clearly defined goals helps us stay on track and get to solutions quickly. Sometimes the process brings up unexpected goals that inform the therapy tasks that follow.

Our first session

A first session with me is unpredictable. I enter unbiased and begin learning about you while providing disclosures about how I operate. I don't want unhappy surprises, so I'm as transparent as I can be. I can be gentle at first, and that may last 15 minutes or several sessions, depending on how quickly we establish rapport.
