Hello! My name is Yvette Weeks, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My therapeutic approach is centered on fostering meaningful connections, emotional well-being, and personal growth. I specialize in working with individuals, children, and families; guiding them through challenges to discover their strengths, learn new techniques, and create positive change.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from various theoretical perspectives such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems Therapy. I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each client and family, employing evidence-based techniques to promote healing and transformation.
My focus
I typically work with individuals, families, and children/adolescents focusing on a wide range of issues, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, communication challenges, behavior issues, parenting challenges, and life transitions. My expertise is in trauma work, child behavior, and helping parents with the child-parent relationship.
My communication style
During our sessions, I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment. I encourage open and honest communication, fostering a safe space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions freely. Working with me feels supportive and collaborative, as we embark on a journey of self-exploration and positive change.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling and emotionally healthy life- in whatever way that looks like to the individual person or family. As a therapist who has personally experienced trauma, depression, and anxiety, I deeply understand the challenges and emotions that accompany these struggles. It is not always easy to seek support from others (believe me, I took a very long time to reach out to someone), and knowing that I can play a part in helping others feel better and do better, drives me to continuously learn and provide the best possible care. It is an honor to be a therapist, and I am dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those I have the opportunity to work with.
My goals for you
Goal setting is a collaborative process, where we identify and prioritize your objectives for therapy. We will discuss your aspirations and challenges, and I will guide you in setting realistic and achievable goals. Together, we will establish a roadmap to navigate the therapeutic journey, tracking progress and celebrating progress along the way.
My first session with you
During our first session, I will take the time to get to know you, your background, and your reasons for seeking therapy. We will talk about your goals and explore any current concerns or challenges. This initial meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and create a foundation for our therapeutic work together.
